Each old tupton ware piece requires more than a dozen steps to complete.
After the clay pieces are fired the artwork is drawn by hand followed by further individual hand crafted tube lining.
This gives the raised effect. The patterns are then painted again by hand, when dried the piece is colour washed a number of times until the quality assessors are satisfied.
Transparent glaze is applied and dried in a kiln again to seal the piece.
Because each piece is hand made there will be slight differences between each piece.
This process enhances the individuality of each piece and its collectability.
