The government is seeking to reduce carbon emission by utilising energy saving products. This includes the eventual replacement of traditional incandescent (sometimes called GLS) bulbs with energy saving replacements. Manufacture of some GLS bulbs have already ceased and will be increasingly faded out.
ASSEMBLY
Before installation it is important to read the handling instruction on the packaging because Halogen bulbs should not be touched with bare hands. The adapter (a G9 HALOGEN ENERGY SAVING CAPSULE) is inserted into the adaptor. For safety and decorative purposes a SHAPED COVER can be placed over the top. The cover is available in plain Candle shape (as shown) or plain Round shape as well in plain Clear and plain Soft Tone.
SPECIALIST USES
Some light fittings have been manufactured specifically with the shape or type of GLS (Incandescent) bulb in mind. Examples of these are candle bulbs, golf ball bulbs or clear bulbs for chandeliers etc.

The capsule is also dimmable and can be used with timing devices.
WATTAGE
The 25 watt G9 capsule is equivalent to a 40 watt Standard bulb, the G9 40 watt is equivalent to a 60 watt Standard bulb. Not all wattage’s are consistently available in all sizes.
